A Bucket List Displayed

Over at The Happy Family Movement, they are hosting their annual Summer Bucketlist Challenge. I've never participated, let alone heard about it, but I signed up all the same. Once signed up, you receive (via e-mail) ideas, guidelines, and the like, and you are eligible to enter prizes. (You should probably know by now, I'm a sucker for prizes.)

Step one, however, was getting my crafty on and creating a way to display our summer bucket list, which has been extended since my bucket list post in April. I've seen several ideas where you write your goals on clothespins and then clip them on the rim of an actual bucket, but in my mind, I could just imagine how quickly our goals would become spaceships, cement mixers, and brachiosaurus. Nix that idea. Enter the "bucket list doorway decoration." See, it doubles as both some color to make our dining room cheerier, and an efficient way for me to see all our ideas that we came up with.

To make ours, I took:
one long piece of hemp (about 7-8 ft., can be as long as you want depending on how many goals you have and where you plan to display)
washi tape; ribbon could work too
cardstock
glue stick, or another kind of glue

First, I cut the cardstock in half, giving me two pieces of 8.5" x 5.5" paper. Those pieces I cut into strips 1/2" wide and 5.5" long. Each strip I folded in half and wrote 1 goal on it.

Put glue on the inside part of the folded strip of paper. Place the hemp in the middle, and close the glued piece of paper around it. I found glue stick to work the best, but another glue would work.

I stuck sets of 4 goal papers, spaced 2 inches or so apart, onto the hemp. Then I put a piece of washi tape in between the sets to add some color. You could also tie ribbon or a scrap strip of fabric around the hemp.

Let dry and hang!

Do you have a bucket list? How are you displaying it?
