Today my sweet tooth was begging for something a little more on the unhealthy side. What can I say?Chocolate knows my name. As my house is (at present) mostly full of healthy + nutritious snacks such as peanuts, almonds, tasteless corn/rice puff things, dried fruit leather, and the like, I went on the lookout for a more chocolate-y style snack. Pinterest has been abrew with these dessert in a mug recipes lately, and although I have repinned several, I'd yet to actually attempt to "bake" one.
After checking out several recipes I found, here is what I came up with. You can reassure any of your second thoughts with the fact that yes, this is definitely sweet, chocolate-y, and not the best for you
- it is not super processed
-And as there is only one serving, you won't find yourself wandering back to the tray of brownies for another.
You will need:
1 TB measure
(I'm all about using less dishes - less mess= less cleanup, less water, less time spent... you get the idea)
To be noted 4 TB = 1/4 cup
Stir (with your measuring spoon) together in the bottom of your mug:
4 TB flour
3 TB brown sugar
2 TB unsweetened cocoa powder
1 pinch of salt
2 TB canola oil (veg oil will work, too)
2 TB milk, half + half, coffee, or water
If desired, almonds or dried cranberries can be added.
Stir until a thick paste is created. Stick in microwave + cook 30-60 seconds (depends on your microwave for how long it will take). Brownie should be somewhat springy on top, but it will be gooey beneath. Enjoy with a cold glass of milk.
