So, I am not promising much since I still don't have internets at the new house and I'm just barely able to find my pertinent belongings BUT since St. Dominic is such a special saint for our family as a namesake to my boy, I couldn't not post anything.
Therefore, here is the quick Celebrate the Feast of St. Dominic, the Moving/Unpacking edition.
St. Dominic's feast day is coming up on August 8th. Often remembered for founding the order of the Dominicans or the Order of the Preachers, St. Dominic also received the Holy Rosary from the Virgin Mother AND preached against the Albigensian heresies (more on those here). St. Dominic asked of his followers to serve with their minds and their words in preaching the Gospel and truth.
All in all, he's a pretty kick-butt saint. I mean, obviously, we think so since we named our firstborn after him. You should read more about this faithful follower of Christ. Just to note, he is also often referred to as St. Dominic de Guzman, so if you find that Saint, just know they're one and the same. I didn't realize that until we were reading up on Saints when naming our Dominic. =)
This recipe from Catholic Cuisine (always an excellent source!) for Chicken Sautéed with Fresh Tomato looks delicious, healthy, and not too hard. St. Dominic is also associated with oranges, so a glass of orange juice or a orange juice based smoothie or slushie would also be perfect!

Crafts + Activities
St. Dominic is the patron saint of astronomers, so we're going to enjoy some of the simple things in life and watch the stars come out.
Praying a rosary (or even a decade or two) with your family would also be exactly appropriate!
Once again, we'll be reading the story of this saint from our ever helpful Loyola Kids Book of Saints by Amy Welborn.
Here's an interesting link on the 9 Ways of Prayer of St. Dominic from Fish Eaters.
O glorious Saint Dominic, who, being filled with zeal for the salvation of souls, didst preach the Gospel in season and out of season and didst establish the Order of Friars Preachers to labor for the conversion of heretics and poor sinners, pray thou to God for us, that He may grant us to love all our brethren sincerely and to cooperate always, by our prayers and good works, in their sanctification and eternal salvation.
